Friday night

When you can't have alcohol, try half a lime, chopped-up ginger, mint leaves, and cranberry seltzer water. Not too bad, even if not as good as the Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA Jason is having (and generously gave me a sip of ;) ). Also, if you're feeling like having a really really good ice cream sundae, make some caramel cashew clusters and chocolate sauce (really just a melted Hershey's bar and a bunch of cream, but completely delicious).

The cashews are from last night: we saw an episode of The Take-Home Chef a while ago with chocolate-covered caramel cashew clusters and they sounded so amazing that I've been slowly gathering the ingredients. The first batch of caramel (following Curtis' recipe) was a disaster and I might have said some insulting things about Australian cooking and had to take a break for an hour or so before trying again. But the second attempt, using Smitten Kitchen's caramel sauce recipe, turned out perfectly, if a little too melty. Good stuff. And not something I will be attempting again too soon.
