Nachos + Game Night

After work on Friday we started playing Titan, also known as The Longest Game in the World. We also made nachos, so we could eat dinner while we played.

Nachos are something we don't really skimp on. Here they are before going in the oven (and being topped with tomatoes and sour cream):

I guess cooking is pretty fun...

Okay, on to Titan.

Play takes up the whole table - you've got the game board, 20 dice, plus lots of tiles and battlefield boards. It's kind of a really epic version of Risk....

We played for two hours before we had a battle. We played till 12:30 and decided to finish playing in the morning....

And then we played from 10am till 4:00pm the next day, when Jason finally killed off my Titan. Actually, I conceded defeat; I only had one legion left on the board to fight with it, and it only contained my Titan, so the end was inevitable. (I think Jason had about 10 armies.) At least I had 3x the points he did, even if points have no bearing on winning or losing, just how many dice your Titan rolls in battle.

It is a fun game, though. There's a lot of down time while the other player is taking his turn, but that's not bad when you have a weekend with nothing planned. I like any game where you get to collect things like Giants and Ogres and Griffons and fight in Swamps and Mountains. And now that we know all the rules, next time shouldn't be more than, oh, 4-5 hours!
