The one-year-old

Kaylen's birthday was last Saturday. It wasn't as bittersweet as i guess it's supposed to be; honestly, I'm glad she's growing and developing so quickly. But it's a joy to be with her and i'll miss her tiny fingers when she gets big - except then there will be other wonderful things about her.

This week she's really learned to wave - no more of a "heil Hitler" sort of stiff up-and-down arm wave, but a real enthusiastic waving. And although i hesitate to say she's saying something too soon, Jason and i have both thought she said "water." She also completely surprised me when i called her my little monkey girl and she said "ooh ooh" (we've been reading a book with monkey sounds lately). So it's fun to see her suddenly popping out with new abilities.
