Last night i wanted to make pavlovas, but they take too long. So i invented some sauce to liven up our vanilla ice cream. (And we had it again tonight.)
All you need is 6-7 strawberries, cut in half (i had frozen ones); zest from one orange (try not to spray your eyes with orange acid while you do it...); juice from one small orange; and a generous sprinkle of powdered ginger. Put them in a small saucepan and simmer for about ten minutes. This time i left it unsupervised a bit too longer while we were re-watching an old episode of The Office, but that just made it thicker. Once the strawberries are good and soft, just mash them a bit and voila, sauce.
Oh, and it smells amazing.
