Please note that i am all in favor of taking kids to Target to get them out of the house when you are exhausted and need a break!! I just realized i might be doing it a bit too often....especially when I need to be sticking to a tighter budget.
So, Day One. Penny napped for a total of one hour, Kaylen not all. I started to feel panic rising at the thought of no real rest from them, but then we made tortillas (well, i fed Penny a ton of snacks to keep her out of trouble and Kaylen helped me make the dough and then tried to eat a lot of it) and then went outside for watermelon and playing in the sprinkler. And watching those girls play in the water is about one hundred times a better memory to have than going to Target.
Today Penny napped longer, but Kaylen didn't at all, which is okay since it gave me a little more time with just K and then i plunked her very willingly in front of Curious George on the "tay-vee" for a while, but i did start to internally freak out when they both were awake before two. Ugh. But they played happily in a pile of toys in Penny's crib while i sorted a bunch of junk, and then i painted gold stars on a corner of Kaylen's ceiling, because she is star-obsessed and i've been wanting to do that for weeks. They might not be very neat, but she's not a very critical two-year-old.
Tomorrow might be time for an outting, though...
