It's the little things, Vol I

A friend of a friend has a great blog, which i will link to another time when I'm not on my phone. As a mom of a young girl, too, she's been doing weekly series on finding joy in the little things of life. This week i'm finally taking a stab at it... (Edit - i wrote that over a week ago. But now here goes!)

One: Saturday morning shopping trip
Jason, Kaylen, and I all went to Target yesterday and it felt ridiculously nice to have them along. No, not ridiculously - they are my favorite people, after all. We even got free drinks at the Target Starbucks thanks to using up the balances on four different gift cards.(I'm thankful for a cheerful cashier who didn't make me feel bad about that or all the flipping back and forth on my phone to find them all). And now Kaylen has a Christmas dress. I don't usually think she needs that kind of thing, but it WILL be her first Christmas after all...something worth celebrating extra.

Two: a fun Saturday night
My parents came over kind of spur of the moment and brought thai soup and after K went to bed we played a game we haven't played in a while but like. And then when they left there was still time for popcorn and ice cream and a new episode of Psych. I've been waiting what feels like almost a year for new episodes on Netflix, so it's a bit exciting....

Three: sleep!
Kaylen slept great the first couple days this week and then reverted back to nightmarishly bad sleeping habits. (Nightmarish for me.) Which has been making me dread daylight savings time, when six am becomes five am. But she did a little better than i expected and thanks to my very, very kind husband, i got to nap for most of the morning instead of getting up early. It's amazing how much more sane even an extra hour of sleep can make me feel. Sane and even hopeful of a good week to come. :)
