My brother-in-law and i went into a genuine Asian teashop this afternoon and were offered a sample of oolong -- which involved sitting at a table in the back and using a real Chinese tea set, the kind which a slotted tray for the water to run down into when you pour hot water over the tiny cups. With each successive cup, the tea leaves unfurled more and the tea got a bit more bitter, but not in a bad way.
I didn't think to take pictures, but here's the arc over the street in front of the shop. Jason patiently stood under it and pushed Kaylen back and forth in the stroller.
I haven't had tea in a long time, thanks to avoiding most kinds but peppermint during pregnancy and the first few months of K's life. But i think it's time to start brewing a cup of jasmine tea every morning. Even if i can't always manage to drink it all before it's too cold -- maybe the brewing of it will have to be the soothing morning routine more than the sipping of it. ;)
