DIY: chalkboard bottles

I bought chalkboard spray-paint a while ago for another project, but for $4 at Home Depot, it's a useful thing to have on hand. The original project was making a chalkboard for the fridge, but since I had most of the bottle left, I spray-painted a beer bottle too.

All I did was use masking tape to make a square on an empty, de-labeled beer bottle (we only have, oh, half a million of those lying around) and then sprayed the chalkboard paint on and peeled off the tape once the paint was dry. You might want to do a couple coats to get a really chalkboardy surface.

And voila! I wasn't sure about its usefulness at first, but then on New Year's Eve used it as a vase and liked that I could write a message on it.
